Do Your Teeth Need Special Treatment After a Filling?

Posted on 11/10/2019 by Century Dental LLC
Do Your Teeth Need Special Treatment After a Filling?A filling is a dental technique in which we clean away any decay that is on the tooth and filling the space with other materials such as porcelain, silver alloy or gold.

This procedure will most likely be the most recommended way of treating a cavity. Some people may experience a little bit of tooth sensitivity and discomfort after the filling. You should not be worried as the discomfort usually goes down after a couple of days. When the filling causes you to have a fever, redness or even swelling, be sure to call your us as soon as possible.

How to Treat Your Teeth After Filling

We will always advise our patients to take good care of their teeth through oral hygiene after a filling procedure is done. Some of the things that we will consider before filling your teeth are the location of the tooth, the size of the repair and the cost before they settle on the best material that they will use on you. When your tooth or teeth have been filled, you need to avoid foods that may trigger your filled tooth to have an uncomfortable sensation.

Examples of such foods are ice cream, hot drinks such as coffee and tea, acidic foods. Fillings are generally put in a way that they should last for years. You should also ensure that you practice good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth multiple times a day and seeing the dentist after the stipulated amount of time.

Fillings are one of the most effective ways to treat cavities and can last for years if they are well maintained. Sometimes experiencing sensitivity after the tooth is filled is normal, but if the pain persists, or if you get other symptoms such as fever or redness, ensure you seek medical advice from us.
